Microchipping Your Cat
A tiny chip. A lifetime of protection.
Microchips give your cat the best chance of coming home if they ever get lost. It is a safe, simple, and permanent way to be reunited with your cat.

Why Microchips Matter
- Increases the chance of being reunited if your cat gets lost
- Permanent and tamper-proof identification
- Works with shelters, rescues, and veterinarians nationwide
- Complements ID tags and collars(it does not replace them)
How Microchipping Works
1. The Microchip
A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, that carries one unique ID number. It is not a GPS tracker and cannot tell you where your cat is. What it does is prove the cat is yours once somebody has found them.
2. Quick and Simple Placement
The chip is placed just under the skin between the shoulder blades using a sterile syringe. It takes less than a minute, feels like a vaccination, and needs no anesthesia.
3. How It Is Read
Shelters and veterinary clinics pass a special scanner over the chip to read the number, then look up your contact information in the registry.
Already having surgery or dental work?
We can place a microchip while your cat is already under anesthesia for a scheduled surgery or dental procedure, with no extra stress for your cat. Just let us know and we will take care of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt my cat?
Most cats feel only a tiny pinch, similar to a vaccine.
Will the microchip move?
No. The chip stays in place under the skin.
Will a microchip interfere with anything?
No. It is safe and does not interfere with daily life or medical equipment.
Do I need to register it?
If your chip is placed at our clinic, the chip will be automatically registered with the client information you give us. If the chip was placed elsewhere, you may need to ensure it is registered. A chip that is never registered is a number that leads nowhere. Keep your contact information up to date so we can reach you if your cat is found and transfer the registration into your name if you adopted a cat who was already chipped.
